Enhanced 2026 Polestar 3 Gets $9,000+ Price Hike in Canada

Low-price electric vehicles are making headlines these days, but for consumers with a much more generous budget, the revised and improved 2026 Polestar 3 is now on sale in Canada, with deliveries to begin in July or August.

Bad news: the major technological update combined with Canadian counter-tariffs on U.S.-made vehicles results in a $9,000 higher base price. Instead of $96,000 (not counting manufacturer rebates), the Polestar 3 now starts at $105,000 plus $2,800 freight and delivery.

What exactly has changed? Well, the Swedish electric crossover has switched from a 400-volt to an 800-volt electrical architecture and adopted an innovative battery software called Breathe Charge. It now delivers a peak DC charging rate of up to 350 kW, with a 10-80% charge taking as little as 22 minutes in optimal conditions, which is 35% faster than before.

Next, there’s a new, more powerful rear electric motor on all models, resulting in a total output of 400 kW (536 hp) in Dual motor trim or 500 kW (671 hp) in Performance trim, the latter requiring an additional $15,000 for a total price of $120,000 before fees. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is improved from 5.0 to 4.7 seconds and from 4.7 to 3.9 seconds, respectively.

Furthermore, the front motor now features automatic disconnect functionality when not needed, improving efficiency and range during everyday driving. An updated suspension and anti-roll bars on the front axle and retuned steering software all contribute to more pleasant handling. As for range, the official rating is 502 km, although selecting the Performance Pack brings it down to 452 km.

Design updates include two new exterior colours, Storm and Krypton, alongside Polestar logos in contrasting colours.

Inside, Nappa leather in a Dune finish can be specified for the first time. However, the biggest news is a significantly upgraded core computing system. The NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin processor replaces the previous Xavier unit, increasing processing power from 30 to 254 trillion operations per second. This will enable faster and more intelligent management of active safety systems, battery performance and sensor data, Polestar claims. And hopefully reduce the number of bugs, too.

“The response to Polestar 3 in Canada has exceeded our expectations, with customers embracing its Scandinavian design, performance and advanced technology,” said Hugues Bissonnette, head of Polestar Canada. “With the latest updates, the Polestar 3 is even better suited for Canadian drivers and the diverse conditions they face year-round.”
