Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on Turkic states to expand cooperation in the defence industry, emphasizing the need to strengthen collective security amid ongoing global crises.
Erdogan made the remarks at an informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Turkestan, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“Events in Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, Ukraine, and other crisis zones indicate the need to strengthen our defence capabilities and expand cooperation in the defence industry. Türkiye is ready to share with member states the experience it has gained in the defence industry, based on high technology,” he said.
Erdogan also advocated for the swift launch of the OTS Plus format and highlighted the importance of transport projects connecting the Turkic world, including the Middle Corridor.
“Transport projects connecting the Turkic world, especially the Middle Corridor, will continue to remain our priority,” he emphasized.
He noted that the crisis in the Middle East has once again underscored the strategic importance of Turkic solidarity.
“Faced with geopolitical challenges, we must strengthen consultation and coordination mechanisms. We believe it is useful to implement the OTS Plus format as soon as possible,” the Turkish president said.
He added that active contacts between OTS leaders and ministers demonstrate that member states already possess the capacity to respond swiftly to shared challenges.
