Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon has again insisted his band will only play Glastonbury if they headline the Pyramid Stage.

Over the course of their close to 50-year career, Duran Duran have played just about every stage there is to perform at in the United Kingdom, from theatres to the biggest arenas in the country.

However, Glastonbury, the most prestigious festival in the United Kingdom, is the one event that has always evaded the iconic group.

The reason why Duran Duran have never played at Glastonbury isn’t due to never having received an offer in their inbox, but because it has never been a headline slot presented to them.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times, Le Bon shared, “Well, we want to — but not in a disco tent at 3pm, which is what we were offered,” before adding, “We want the right slot.”

When asked to clarify what he meant by the “right slot”, the singer explained, “We shouldn’t be below anybody on the bill.”

If there was any slight room for doubt as to what he is referring to, Le Bon then shared, “So, we’ll hold out because we’re a headline act — that’s all there is to it.”

This is not the first time that Le Bon has spoken out about his ambitions to one day headline Glastonbury, previously telling The Telegraph in 2023, “A long time ago, I vowed I would never set foot in Glastonbury unless it was on the Pyramid Stage at a decent hour of the night. So although I’ve been asked to camp, to glamp and invited to fly in and out by helicopter, I’ve always refused on principle.”

His bandmate Nick Rhodes also said, “I believe they have our telephone number, we haven’t changed it.”

Although topping the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury appears unlikely, with almost every major artist in the world vying for just three spots, Duran Duran will headline BST Hyde Park this summer in London on July 5th, which holds up to 65,000 people.

They’ll be joined in the capital by special guests Scissor Sisters.
