Gina Carano Details Extent of Weight Loss for Ronda Rousey Fight in ‘Vulnerable’ Social Media Post

Gina Carano revealed in a social media post that she lost 100 pounds from Sept. 2024 to Friday, when she weighed in at 141.4 pounds for her fight against Ronda Rousey on Saturday.
“If it wasn’t for having this incredibly challenging goal in fighting @rondarousey I most definitely wouldn’t have reached this,” Carano wrote. “I was pre-diabetic, had trouble simply walking in September 2024 and have been on the path to recovery to turn myself back into an athlete since then. It was hard, SO damn hard.. there was so much to learn, too much to unpack here, ups, downs, plateaus, things I learned late I wish I learned earlier, trial by error but I did it.”
Per ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, the Carano-Rousey fight was booked at a 145-pound weight limit. Rousey weighed in at 142 pounds.
The bout will headline Most Valuable Promotions’ first-ever MMA event. MVP was co-founded by Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian.
The prelims start at 6 p.m. ET, while the main card begins at 8 p.m. ET. The five-fight main card also features matches between Francis Ngannou and Philipe Lins as well as Nate Diaz and Mike Perry.
