Major delays expected across Belfast this weekend as parades planned

The March for Jesus and Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign parades will both take place

The PSNI has advised drivers to expect traffic disruptions in Belfast this weekend due to two planned parades.

Taking place Saturday May 16, the first parade will be the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign. It is due to depart Donegall Street at 12pm and will make its way through the city before ending at Donegal Square East.

The second event, the March For Jesus parade, will leave Ormeau Park at 2pm and finish at City Hall later in the afternoon.

A police spokesman said: “Road users are advised to expect potential traffic disruption in Belfast this Saturday, May 16, due to two planned parades in the city.

“One of the parades is scheduled to commence from Donegall Street in the city centre at around 12pm and proceed along Royal Avenue, Castle Place, High Street, Victoria Street, Chichester Street, Wellington Place, College Square East, College Avenue, Castle Street, Donegall Place and finishing at 3pm at Donegall Square East.

“Starting off at Ormeau Park in the east of the city at around 2pm, the second parade will proceed along Ormeau Embankment, Ravenhill Road, Albertbridge Road, East Bridge Street, Cromac Street, Victoria Street, Chichester Street, Arthur Street, Cornmarket, High Street, Castle Place, Donegall Place, Donegall Square North and finishing at Belfast City Hall at around 5pm.

“We would advise road users to seek an alternative route where possible, or allow extra time for your journey.”
