West of England headlines: Great Bristol Run and skunk on the run

ITV West reported on the Great Bristol Run half marathon and 10k, external. Crowds of spectators lined the streets of the city centre cheering on thousands of runners, many of them raised money for charitable causes.

An unusual incident was reported by a resident who said on Facebook they had spotted a skunk in Taunton, external. The animal was seen in Staplegrove Road by French weir.

An ITV West report, external said Great Western Railway (GWR) will be renationalised in December. It will be the 11th rail company to be nationalised, bringing it under the umbrella of Great British Railways.

The world-famous Gloucestershire cheese rolling competition has been declared ‘unsafe’ by Tewkesbury Borough Safety Advisory Group, Gloucestershire Live reported, external. The group said there are no official safety plans in place for the event.

Plans to fly the Pride Progress flag outside the headquarters of Wiltshire Council for five years have been revealed, Wiltshire Live reported, external.
