Police have arrested a 20-year-old man following an alleged drink spiking incident in north Belfast on Friday night.
The incident was reported in the High Street area of the city at around 11.15pm on Friday, May 15, prompting a police response and an ongoing investigation.
Police investigation underway after late-night report
Detective Sergeant Stevenson said officers received a report of an alleged spiking shortly before midnight.
A 20-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of administering poison to aggrieve and remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
The PSNI has not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident at this stage.
Appeal for witnesses and footage
Police are now appealing to anyone who was in the High Street area at the time to come forward with information.
Investigators are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam, mobile phone footage, or other recordings that could assist enquiries.
Detective Sergeant Stevenson said:
“We received a report at around 11.15pm of an alleged spiking in the High Street area of the city.
“Officers attended the scene and a 20-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of administering poison to aggrieve. He remains in police custody at this time.
“Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and has any information, including CCTV or other footage, to contact us on the 101 number, quoting reference 1775 of 15/05/26.”
