Huge Explosion Rocks Israeli Defence Facility Near Jerusalem, Videos Go Viral
A powerful blast near the Jerusalem-area city of Beit Shemesh on Saturday night triggered panic across parts of the occupied territories after dramatic visuals of the explosion spread widely on social media.
The explosion took place at a testing ground linked to the state-owned Tomer defence company, which develops engines for rockets and missiles used by Israeli forces.
In an official statement issued after the incident, Tomer said the blast was part of a “pre-planned experiment” that had been carried out according to schedule.
Residents in and around Beit Shemesh reported hearing a large explosion, while videos circulating online showed a massive fireball and thick smoke rising high into the sky.
Several clips captured the moment of the blast, with shockwaves visible in some of the footage. The explosion could reportedly be seen from miles away.
Images and videos from the area quickly spread across social media platforms, leading to widespread speculation about what may have happened at the sensitive military-linked site.
According to reports, the explosion produced a towering mushroom cloud, raising fears among some viewers that it could have been the result of sabotage or a serious accident.

But controlled explosions require advance notification to surrounding areas. None was given.
And the blast was far too large for a standard sapper operation.

Tomer says test was planned
Following the incident, Tomer moved quickly to dismiss speculation and insisted that the event was part of a controlled test.
The company stated that the explosion was a scheduled trial and claimed there had been “no irregular incidents” during the experiment.
Israeli broadcaster Kan also reported the company’s statement, which attempted to calm concerns surrounding the blast.
Officials said no injuries were reported and there was no damage to surrounding civilian areas.
Blast videos fuel online speculation
Despite the official explanation, the visuals from the scene led to intense online discussion due to the scale of the explosion and ongoing regional tensions involving Iran.
Some viewers initially feared that the blast may have been linked to sabotage or retaliation connected to recent developments in the region.
Iranian media also highlighted the incident and suggested it could be linked to wider tensions.
However, Israeli authorities maintained that there was no security breach or external involvement in the explosion.
Sensitive Israeli defence facility
Tomer is considered an important part of Israel’s defence industry and is involved in the production of rocket and missile motors.
The company plays a key role in developing systems connected to Israel’s military infrastructure.
The latest blast is also being viewed in the context of several mysterious explosions and incidents reported at sensitive Israeli sites in recent years.
Authorities continue to maintain that Saturday’s explosion was a routine test carried out under planned conditions.
