Tornado Watch until 11:00 PM Sunday, May 17, 2026(WOWT)

Severe weather impacts Sunday, May 17, 2026(WOWT)

In the Omaha metro, the most likely storm time is about 8:00-11:00 PM. I would recommend being home at that time.

If you have a weather radio, as a reminder, double check that the batteries are working, and that the unit is switched on.

Severe weather plans(WOWT)

One more round of severe storms is possible Monday afternoon and Evening. We have to wait and see where the front is by midday Monday. Anywhere along, and east of that front will have potential to see storms that have big hail, strong winds, and tornadoes Monday afternoon and evening.

Severe outlook for Monday, May 18, 2026(WOWT)

This would be a good time to review the severe weather safety plans with your kids, because severe weather is possible as they are coming home from school, or before you are coming home from work. Make sure that everyone is prepared for potentially dangerous storms.

Monday will also be the last warm and humid day for a while. Once the front pools east, temperatures drop into the 60s Tuesday and Wednesday, and stay closer to average in the 70s through the remainder of the week.
