Railway reopens between Blackburn and Bolton after tunnel closure

A railway line has reopened after damage was found on a rail tunnel wall leading to the tunnel’s closure and train service disruption between Blackburn and Bolton.
A Network Rail spokeswoman said inspectors noticed the problem on Sunday morning, prompting the temporary closure of Sough Tunnel.
It has now reopened after repairs by engineers, however commuters are advised to check National Rail for service details.
Network Rail said it was working with train operators to get services back to normal “as quickly as possible”.
