Police: Man kidnaps, assaults teen before taking own life

Authorities say one man is dead following a reported kidnapping and assault in Tulsa.

Around 2:45 a.m. on Monday, officers with the Tulsa Police Department responded to a call from a 17-year-old girl who said someone was chasing her and threatening to shoot her.

The victim told police that her boyfriend, 20-year-old Holden Cothran, was angry with her after they left a party.

When they stopped at a gas station, she says she jumped out of his truck and tried to get help at the store.

At that point, she got into a man’s Jeep to get away from Cothran, but he followed them until they hit a dead end.

Investigators allege Cothran got out of his truck and fired multiple bullets into the side of the Jeep.

Fortunately, no one was hit.

The driver of the Jeep backed into Cothran’s truck, which led to Cothran allegedly severely beating the driver and dragging the 17-year-old back to his truck.

Police say Cothran then pistol whipped the teen multiple times while they drove toward Inola.

Inola officers then responded to reports of a reckless driver in the area.

Authorities didn’t know that Cothran had fired several shots at the 17-year-old inside the truck, narrowly missing her.

When he was pulled over, Cothran shot and killed himself.
