Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Full Easter Egg Guide from Walt Disney Imagineering

Walt Disney Imagineering has released a new behind-the-scenes video giving a full tour of the Easter eggs, prop tributes, and Muppets references hidden throughout Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.

The video reveals the level of detail that went into the attraction, including original props from MuppetVision 3D, historic Muppet Show instruments, and a deeply personal tribute to Jim Henson.

30 Minutes of Original Muppets Footage

New original Muppets content was created for the attraction. A social media feed visible in the queue shows the Muppets backstage at the concert searching for the missing Electric Mayhem, requiring over 30 minutes of original footage – the equivalent of a full TV episode – shot specifically for this one room of the attraction. Dozens of Muppets and celebrity cameos appear throughout.

The Gallery Case Room

A dedicated gallery room curated by Yolanda the Rat honors the legacy of the Muppets with an extraordinary collection of props and artifacts:

  • A Miss Piggy tribute featuring an original costume including a fabulous dress and hat
  • A painstakingly recreated replica of Kermit’s original banjo from The Muppet Movie, based on the original donated by The Muppet Studio to the Disney Archives last year – the banjo Kermit plays “Rainbow Connection” on
  • A tribute to Electric Mayhem featuring their instruments, with Floyd and Janice’s guitars being original pieces from The Muppet Show, described as “very, very historic”
  • Statler and Waldorf’s original chairs from MuppetVision 3D

The Alleyway

The outdoor alleyway area is packed with story details and Easter eggs referencing Muppets history:

  • The LA Down Under Club has been transformed into a comedy club where Fozzie Bear performs
  • The rats have their own tiny speakeasy next door called the Squeak Easy, with an opening year referencing a certain Muppet legend’s birth year
  • Gonzo Stunt School Hollywood occupies the alleyway with props including a recruiting poster for the stunt squirrel, a cannon used by penguins to shoot at the Swedish Chef in MuppetVision 3D, pizza boxes from Pizza Rizzo, and a banner and tiny airplane recognizable to Muppets fans
  • The Mona Lisa poster from Mama Melrose’s Restaurante Italiano makes an appearance
  • A blastoff billboard from The Muppet Movie – a deep cut reference to the scene where Fozzie pulls in front to hide from Doc Hopper
  • Posters featuring obscure Muppet characters including Bean Bunny, Angus McGonagle (who appears in only a single episode of The Muppet Show), and Marvin Suggs
  • Sweetums is still looking for Bean Bunny, posting pictures along the alleyway in a nod to MuppetVision 3D

Bunsen and Beaker’s Automotive Division

The parking garage area is home to Bunsen and Beaker, who signed a lease and set up their Muppet Mobile Labs Automotive Division. Highlights include:

  • The Interpol car from Muppets Most Wanted, converted into one of their experiments
  • A tribute to the Muppet Mobile Lab, previously seen at Hong Kong Disneyland and EPCOT, currently getting work done by the automotive division
  • Valet attendants recruited as lab assistants

On the Hollywood 101 Freeway

  • Whiz past World Wide Studios, the world-famous movie studio seen in The Muppet Movie.
  • The PizzeRizzo sign has found a new home alongside the 101.
  • You might also spot a Waldo crossing, a loving nod to the Spirit of 3D.

The Jim Henson Portrait

The most significant Easter egg is saved for the end of the ride. At the concert backstage area, a portrait of Jim Henson hangs as a tribute to the Muppets’ creator. The portrait originally hung in the rafters of the MuppetVision 3D preshow as a tribute to Henson, who passed away a year before MuppetVision 3D opened in 1991.

The Imagineering team made a deliberate decision to continue that tradition at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. As one Imagineer put it: “Wouldn’t be Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets if we didn’t continue that tradition and honor Jim’s legacy.”

Statler and Waldorf’s New Lines

The video also reveals more about Statler and Waldorf at the unload station. The Imagineering team wrote extensive new material for the duo while preserving some classic lines. One new exchange heard in the video:

“Looks like these folks might be stuck here for a moment.” “Ah, they’ll be fine. We’ve been bolted to the floor for decades.”

The attraction opens for Annual Passholder previews tommorrow, with DVC Member priority access on May 24 and the public opening on May 26, 2026.
