Rangers Go for Series Win Against Rockies

After an emphatic 10-0 win on Tuesday night, the Texas Rangers will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon, going for a series victory against the Colorado Rockies.
First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. CST from Coors Field in Denver, Colo. Fans can catch all of the action on Rangers Sports Network and on 105.3 The Fan on the radio side of things.

Jack Leiter will take the mound for the Rangers as he looks to follow up a stellar performance from his fellow Vanderbilt alum, Kumar Rocker, who threw 7 2/3 shutout innings, allowing just three walks while striking out seven.
Leiter himself is coming off one of his best starts of the season where he went seven innings and allowing just one run in a 2-0 Rangers loss in Houston last Friday night.
Entering play today, Leiter is 1-4 with a 4.35 ERA on the season. However, two of Leiter’s better starts have come in his last two outings, so there is hope that he is starting to turn the corner.

Offensively, the Rangers will face a left-handed starter for a third straight day as Kyle Freeland takes the ball for the Rockies.
Freeland enters play with a 1-5 record and a 7.22 ERA on the season. After the Rangers’ offensive explosion on Tuesday night, expect manager Skip Schumaker to deploy a similar lineup.
With a win, the Rangers will take the series with the Rockies and have an opportunity to return to Globe Life Field next week with a record above .500, depending on how the final leg of their road trip goes.

Thus far, the trip hasn’t been an ideal one for the Rangers, who have gone 3-3 in the six games. But they certainly have the opportunity to close it on a strong note and potentially turn the corner on their season.
Entering play on Wednesday, the Rangers sit just one game out of first place in the American League West Division despite their 23-25 record.
Although the Rangers’ organization has its eyes fixed on the standings early in the season, it’s certainly always a welcome sign to see your team very much in the thick of things, even if your start has been less than ideal.

There’s no doubt that if the offense can even show up halfway to the extent they did on Tuesday night, then the Rangers are going to be winning a lot more ballgames than they lose.
