Aston Villa trophy parade details as city centre roads to be closed off

The council has revealed that a network of roads in central Birmingham may close and tram services suspended or diverted to celebrate Aston Villa winning the Europa League.
A notice has been emailed to city centre firms to inform them of “potential temporary traffic management measures that may be required” including parking suspensions and and road blocks.
It is understood the event will now take place – and is a parade celebrating Aston Villa’s Europa League final win tonight.

West Midlands Metro services are expected to be suspended between Edgbaston Village and Grand Central from 10am on Thursday until the end of service.
City Centre bus services are also expected to operate on diversion.

Further details will be communicated vis the official council social media channel during Wednesday evening (May 20).
The council said that “should the arrangements proceed, the following temporary restrictions are expected to apply on Thursday 21 May”:
• Parking bays on the roads listed below will be suspended from 00:00 (midnight) until 22:00.
• Road closures will be implemented from approximately 10:00 and are expected to remain in place until approximately 22:00, although roads may reopen earlier if conditions allow.
• Bus services within the city centre are expected to operate on diversion during these times.
• West Midlands Metro services are expected to be suspended between Edgbaston Village and Grand Central from 10:00 until the end of service.
• Access to some car parks and frontages located on, or accessed via, the affected roads, may be restricted during the operational period.

• Hall Street
• Warstone Lane
• Frederick Street
• Albion Street
• Powell Street
• Summer Hill Road
• Sand Pits
• Clement Street
• St Vincent Street
