Girls on the Run Vermont will hold its 5K event May 30 at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction.

The event celebrates the accomplishments of over 1,300 participants from northern Vermont Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole teams, according to a community announcement.

Participants will be joined by more than 400 volunteer coaches, approximately 500 running buddies, over 100 volunteers and supporters from the Girls on the Run Vermont community. The event is supported by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont and presented by M&T Bank.

The 5K is open to the public, and all proceeds will benefit Girls on the Run Vermont’s Every Girl Fund, which ensures that every girl in Vermont can participate in the program through automatic subsidies and additional financial assistance.

Online registration for the 5K is open until 10 p.m. May 27. The registration fee is $10 for children aged 17 and under and for Girls on the Run Vermont alumni and $25 for adult running buddies and adult community runners.

This pricing will also be honored in person from 4-6 p.m. May 29 at the Expo. Event-day registration will be open from 7:30-9:30 a.m. May 30 at the Champlain Valley Expo, with entry fees remaining $10 for children and alumni and increasing to $35 for adults. All Girls on the Run Vermont participants and coaches who registered for the program do not need to register for the 5K event.

Volunteers are still needed for roles such as course volunteers, face painting and equipment setup and breakdown. Individuals, families and groups can sign up in advance to volunteer at gotrvt.org/5k-essex. Community service hours are offered for high schoolers.

Activities for participants will begin at 8:30 a.m. and are free for all in attendance. The 5K event will start at 10 a.m.
