Rabat – The national railway office (ONCF) announced a special transportation plan for Eid Al Adha 1447 to help passengers travel more easily during one of Morocco’s busiest holiday periods.
The special plan runs from May 20 to June 7 and includes additional trains, increased seating capacity, and reinforced services on the country’s busiest railway routes. ONCF said the goal is to ensure comfort, safety, and smooth travel for customers during the holiday rush.
For the high-speed Al Boraq trains, ONCF will maintain hourly departures between Tangier, Kenitra, Rabat, and Casablanca from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the outbound travel period. An additional train at 10 p.m. will also be added on days with especially heavy demand.
The company also announced stronger capacity for Al Atlas trains, with extra trains and more seats on major routes, including Marrakech-Casablanca-Fez and Tangier-Fes-Oujda. Additional services will also connect passengers to Oujda, Nador, Khouribga, and Safi.
ONCF said regular service for the rapid shuttle trains (TNR) will continue during departure and return periods surrounding Eid. However, train schedules will be adjusted on the day of Eid itself based on passenger demand.
To manage the expected crowds, ONCF will increase staff presence at train stations and onboard trains to assist and guide travelers. Technical teams will also remain available around the clock to maintain smooth railway operations throughout the holiday season.
The railway operator encouraged passengers to purchase round-trip tickets in advance through station ticket offices, automatic ticket machines, the ONCF website and mobile app, as well as partner agencies including Cash Plus, Barid Cash, and Tasshilat.
Morocco will celebrate Eid Al Adha on Wednesday, May 27. The religious holiday, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the most important celebrations in Islam. Families traditionally gather to pray, share meals, and spend time together, leading to heavy travel demand across the country during the Eid period.
