While Gill scored fifty off just 23 balls, Sudharsan reached the milestone off 35 deliveries. But just when their partnership reached 125, Spencer Johnson dismissed the GT skipper on 64.

Shubman Gill’s fluent innings came to an end as he fell to Spencer Johnson while attempting to shift gears. He took on a fullish delivery angled into him but mistimed his shot, getting a thick leading edge while trying to heave it towards the leg side. The ball ballooned over mid-wicket, where Shivam Dube judged it brilliantly and took a clean catch despite tumbling to the ground.

The wicket not only ended a crucial partnership but also provided Chennai Super Kings with a much-needed breakthrough.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to bowl against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. CSK made two changes, bringing in Matt Short for Prashant Veer and Gurjapneet Singh in place of Akeal Hosein. Gujarat Titans, meanwhile, made one change, with Prasidh Krishna replacing Sai Kishore in the playing XI.
