Prince William heads to Isles of Scilly during his tour of the West Country | ITV News

Prince William will visit the Isles of Scilly today, Friday 22 May, as he continues his tour of the West Country.
The future king spent Thursday 21 May, visiting new Duchy of Cornwall homes in Nansledan, Newquay.
Today, the Duke of Cornwall will travel to St Mary’s, where he’ll head to the Isles of Scilly Hospital to meet staff, patients and open a new facility which has increased medical capacity to the Isles.
The Duke will then see the near complete construction site of ten new sustainable homes being delivered by the Duchy of Cornwall.
The development has been designed to help tackle the Isles’ acute housing shortage, with homes prioritised for those who have lived on the Isles of Scilly for more than five years, or who currently work on the islands.

Once complete, the homes will feature high levels of insulation, positive ventilation throughout and rooftopsolar panels. Each property will also include a dedicated parking space for the island car-share scheme, with provision for electric vehicle charging points.
The homes are expected to welcome their first residents in winter 2026.
After visiting the new development, the Duke will meet local emergency responders to hear about the role they played when the islands were battered by Storm Goretti earlier this year.
The Isles of Scilly experienced significant loss to its shelterbelt trees during the January storm, which play a vital role in protecting communities from high winds and storms.
During the visit, The Duke will replant a shelterbelt tree and reflect on the Duchy’s role in providing additional resources, organising essential repairs and commissioning expert assessments from surveyors and forestryspecialists.
