Gillian Anderson Debuts Drastic Blonde ‘Disco Curls’ Hair Transformation

Extra long hair might have taken over the Met Gala, but in Cannes, it’s all about bringing the drama with plenty of volume – as demonstrated by Gillian Anderson.
The revered actor and entrepreneur made her Cannes Film Festival appearance this afternoon for her latest film, Teenage Sex And Death At Camp Miasma. At the photo call, Anderson debuted voluminous, S-wave curls with plenty of height to complement her embellished, Miu Miu column dress and Chaumet jewellery.

Created by hairstylist Paul Jones, this hairstyle is a departure from Anderson’s previous looks, which tend to be sleek and understated. But given the joie de vivre mood of the brighter season (and the return of Rivals on our screens), Anderson’s big, pre-Raphaelite curls bring a sense of much-needed drama, playfulness and joy to the red carpet. To recreate, opt for a generous spritz of volumising mousse, a narrow curling iron and a texturising, strong-hold hairspray to finish.
It’s also a cut that spotlights the freshness of her blonde hue, which was created by Anderson’s long-time colourist, Timothy David, who delivered a seamless, butterscotch blonde tone. The gentle, warm undertones lend an elevated finish that’s perfect for the warmer months. Keen to recreate the look? Book into the Timothy David Hair Studio in Notting Dale Campus.
