Weather roller coaster: Heat dissipates and frost returns in Ottawa

Humidity made way from a crisp wind and cooler temperatures on Thursday in the nation’s capital, prompting a risk of frost.
According to Environment Canada, temperatures could fall near or below 0 C overnight into Friday. This could cause damage to some plants, crops and trees that are vulnerable to cold weather.
“Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas,” the agency warns.
This comes just after Ottawa experienced a weather roller coaster this week.
During the tail end of the long weekend, temperatures soared well past normal to 25 C, but factoring in the humidity, it felt closer to 30. By Tuesday afternoon, some parts of the city were sticky as temperatures increased.
But overnight, things took a turn and returned to normal before a cold front swept in.
Friday is expected to be sunny with a high of 19 C, returning to an overnight low of 7 C.
Both Saturday and Sunday, the clouds are forecast to return, Environment Canada notes.
