The Becky Lynch/Sol Ruca match at Saturday Night’s Main Event gets a terrible finish (UPDATED)

Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch was not going to have to defend her title against Sol Ruca at tonight’s (Sat., May 23, 2026) Saturday Night’s Main Event show at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Peacock but at least the two were going to square up for what promised to be a decent match. Or at least there was every reason to think they would deliver something decent.

It was not decent at all.

It started hot, and Ruca was flying all around looking like the highly touted prospect we’ve been waiting to see on the main roster. Then they went to the finish, and it sucked the air right out of the arena.

Ruca went for the Sol Snatcher and Lynch dragged referee Jessika Carr into the line of fire. This was the result of that:

Yes, Carr called for the bell and a disqualification victory was awarded to Sol, who was disappointed despite the victory. The fans hated it. I hated it. I imagine many others feel the same.

Lynch rushed the ring to launch a post-match beatdown and that’s how they went out. After initial excitement, they haven’t done a damn thing to make Ruca look like a threat to anyone, and have actively worked to knock her down a peg. It makes no sense to me.

UPDATE: This match was more an angle designed to get the two booked for an actual title match at Clash in Italy, the much bigger show next week.

Not at all a waste of time then!
