RAM cancels many flights between France and Morocco as the summer peak season approaches

Royal Air Maroc is reducing its routes to Europe but strengthening its presence in sub-Saharan Africa.
The start of the peak summer season has resulted in a sharp reduction in flights from Royal Air Maroc, to see the suspension of certain routes. This is generally a normal measure with the start of summer, with leisure demand weakening as temperatures rise in Europe. Nevertheless, this year, the reduction is proving more drastic for the Moroccan company, due to the soaring price of oil. France-Morocco routes are thus particularly affected.
Most routes connecting French regions to Marrakech are disappearing. This is the case for routes to Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes and Toulouse, which will disappear from timetables between early July and mid-September. These routes are generally served by two flights per week. Brussels-Marrakech is also affected by the measure.
From Casablanca, Royal Air Maroc is reducing its frequencies from three to two weekly flights to Montpellier between 24 June and 24 October. It should also be noted that the Casablanca-Zurich route is going from three to two weekly frequencies from 15 July. Finally, Tangier will see its number of flights reduced to Spain, notably to Barcelona and Malaga.
These routes should return to Royal Air Maroc’s schedule from October.
This reduction in frequencies and routes to Europe, however, corresponds to an increase in the number of flights from Casablanca to Africa. In June, Royal Air Maroc will increase weekly frequencies by an average of one to two on routes to Abuja, Accra, Bamako, Cotonou, Douala, Lagos, Libreville, Lomé and Ouagadougou.
