Lizzo addresses Taylor Swift feud rumours

Lizzo has hit back at claims she’s been speaking negatively about fellow artist Taylor Swift.

The Truth Hurts singer called the accusations fake news while telling her critics to “grow tf up” after her name was mentioned in a post on X over the weekend.

On Saturday, an X user posted comparison streaming figures of Swift’s latest album The Life Of A Showgirl and Lizzo’s 2025 mixtape My Face Hurts From Smiling alongside Drake’s recent triple release Iceman, Habibti and Maid of Honour.

“The Life Of A Showgirl + MY FACE HURTS FROM SMILING — 4.005M,” the user tweeted alongside a clip of Lizzo’s STFU music video.

“ICEMAN, HABIBTI, and MAID OF HONOUR — 683k.”

A confused Lizzo then retweeted the post while asking her 2 million X followers, “Can someone explain what this means?”

The replies came thick and fast, telling Lizzo that the tweet implied she made no sales for her 2025 mixtape as Swift sold 4.005 million albums on her own.

“it means that taylor’s last album and yours combined did 4.005m units in its first week on billboard but the joke is that ur album didn’t contribute to anything,” one user explained, as another tweeted, “It means you did horrible in first week sales queen! They’re trying to shade you.”

But it was this comment from one user that set Lizzo off: “It means all that sh*t talking you did about Tay finally caught up to you.”

“Are you well?” Lizzo clapped back in the thread. “First of all I have never talked sh*t about Taylor Swift — also while we on the subject I’ve never talked sh*t about any artist. Just because I mention an artist by name does not mean I’m talking sh*t – grow tf up pls.”

Indeed, Lizzo’s track record shows that she only has love for the Opalite singer.

Earlier this month, on the Genius Verified podcast, Lizzo said she was following Swift’s lead when promoting her new single B*TCH.

The new track samples Meredith Brooks’ 1997 hit of the same name in the bridge and Lizzo insisted on crediting Brooks for being the OG.

“Shout-out to Meredith Brooks,” Lizzo said on the May 15 episode. “I want the whole world to know that this is her record.”

“There were things that she said in the ’90s that worked,” Lizzo continued. “I feel like that would’ve gotten lost in translation a little bit. I was like, ‘This is Lizzo’s version.’”

“You know how it’s like, ‘Taylor’s Version?’ It’s like, ‘B***h (Lizzo’s Version).’”

Likewise, Lizzo also addressed claims of a feud between herself and Swift during the opening night of her Aussie tour at RAC Arena in Perth back in 2023.

At one point during the concert, Lizzo spotted a fan holding up a sign which read, “I chose you over Taylor”, in an obvious reference to Swift.

“I’m going to start off be saying thank you for coming to my show, I know tickets are expensive to everybody’s shows, so it means the world to me that you’re here,” she told the concertgoer.

“Taylor Swift is amazing as well … I heart Tay Tay too, there’s no competition here.”

The origins of feud rumours could be traced back to when Lizzo sparked outrage among Swifties that same year when her Instagram Live comment was perceived to be a dig at the All Too Well singer.

“The most popular person of today ain’t even comparable to what Beyonce is doing,” Lizzo said in the video to her 13.5 million followers.

Many assumed she meant Swift, whose fame and popularity was at the time hitting a peak amid record-breaking sales for her The Eras tour and the chart-topping re-releases of her albums.
