‘I really don’t care’: Lane Hutson shuts down criticism at press conference before opener in Carolina

Lane Hutson just sent quite a message during his press conference yesterday ahead of the start of the Eastern Conference Final between the Canadiens and the Hurricanes.

The young Canadiens star defenseman delivered a very clear statement toward critics of his defensive game.

And this is exactly the kind of response that shows the incredible maturity of the Canadiens’ number 48!

“Lane Hutson today when asked if he cares what his critics say about his defensive game:

‘I don’t really care at all. I care more about just internally, trying to help the team win and kill plays. I care more about what my teammates think or coaches, what they think I can do to help the team. That’s just kinda where my head’s at.'”

A perfect response that shows exactly how a young professional player should handle criticism from some people.

Several analysts spent a large part of the season criticizing Lane Hutson’s defensive game, and many experts (who clearly do not watch Canadiens games) continue to point out that he needs to improve defensively to become a complete defenseman.

But in the end, Hutson has clearly decided to stop paying attention to outside criticism!

The Canadiens’ number 48 prefers to focus on the opinion of his teammates and coaches, and that is exactly the right mindset for a young player who wants to keep improving.

For Kent Hughes, this is probably also a huge source of pride.

The Canadiens general manager bet on Hutson at the 2022 NHL Draft, and his young star defenseman is now showing that he has everything needed to become one of the organization’s great players long term.

This is exactly the kind of success story that defines good NHL teams.

We’ll see how Lane Hutson performs in the Eastern Conference Final against the Carolina Hurricanes, but let’s just say we are not too worried about him.
