Arizona trooper shoots and kills motorist east of Tucson

An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper fatally shot and killed a motorist after a traffic stop Monday morning on Interstate 10 near Benson.

The shooting happened about 8 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the interstate. Benson is about 50 miles southeast of Tucson.

No details had been provided early Tuesday about the shooting.

DPS said only that the investigation continues at that no troopers were injured.
