Manchester City officially confirm former Arsenal star to leave club with Pep Guardiola

The departure of Pep Guardiola from Manchester City after a decade in charge has triggered one of the biggest transitions in the club’s modern history, with several members of his trusted coaching staff now expected to follow him out of the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola officially confirmed last week that he will leave Manchester City at the end of the season, bringing an end to a remarkable 10-year spell that transformed the club into a dominant force in English and European football.
Since arriving in 2016, the Spaniard guided City to multiple Premier League titles, domestic trophies and European success, while establishing one of the most successful eras in the club’s history.

The 55-year-old managed his final match for Manchester City against Aston Villa before receiving an emotional farewell from supporters during the club’s trophy parade earlier this week. Reports have suggested former City assistant and ex-Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is expected to succeed Guardiola as the club begins a new era.
Amid the sweeping changes behind the scenes, reports now claim former Arsenal defender Kolo Toure is set to leave Manchester City as part of a wider restructuring of Guardiola’s backroom staff following the manager’s exit.
Toure, who worked within Manchester City’s academy setup before joining Guardiola’s senior coaching staff, is reportedly among five coaches expected to depart the club this summer. Former Liverpool assistant Pepijn Lijnders, goalkeeping coach Xabier Mancisidor, fitness coach Lorenzo Buenaventura and head of player support Manuel Estiarte are also believed to be leaving alongside Guardiola.
The former Ivory Coast international remains a highly respected figure at both Arsenal and Manchester City after enjoying a distinguished playing career in England. Toure was a key member of Arsene Wenger’s famous “Invincibles” squad that went unbeaten during Arsenal’s 2003-04 Premier League-winning season before later joining Manchester City in 2009 during the early stages of the club’s rise.

After retiring from professional football, Toure moved into coaching and gradually built his experience through roles at Celtic, Leicester City and within Manchester City’s youth structure before stepping into Guardiola’s first-team environment.
His reported departure would therefore mark another significant change as Manchester City prepare for life after Guardiola, whose exit signals the end of one of the most influential managerial reigns in Premier League history.
City are now expected to undergo a major restructuring both on and off the pitch ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, with the incoming manager likely to assemble a new-look coaching team as the club attempts to maintain the standards established under Guardiola over the past decade.
