Strictly Come Dancing star engaged as she shows off sparkler and jokes she ‘got bored’

Joanne Clifton’s famous sister-in-law was among those to quickly respond to the happy news

A former Strictly Come Dancing star has been flooded with congratulatory messages as she revealed her engagement.
Joanne Clifton, who was a professional dancer on the show from 2014 until 2016 when she lifted the Glitterball trophy with presenter Ore Oduba, took to social media to announce her partner had popped the question.
The dancer and stage star went public with her relationship with AJ Jenks in 2020. She previously confessed that the performer managed to change her mind after she initially decided not to date anyone from her industry.
Speaking to Metro in 2022, Joanne said: “Before I met my boyfriend AJ, I said to myself, I’m not going to go out with anyone from the industry. But you can’t help what happens.
“I went to see AJ in the Buddy Holly musical and he asked me out for a drink. I was convinced it wasn’t going to work but we’ve been together nearly two years now.”
Joanne, whose brother Kevin also appeared as a pro on Strictly, and AJ are now engaged with Joanne taking to Instagram to share her happy news, while also showing off her stunning new engagement ring.

Alongside the post, the 41-year-old wrote: “Got bored … so we’re getting married. Cheers!” And the messages soon came flooding in, with documentary maker, and Joanne’s sister-in-law, Stacey Dooley commenting: “Whehehehheyyyyyuyyyyyyy.”
Former Strictly co-star Karen Hauer said: “Omg jo!! Congratulations beautiful. Big hug,” while Gorka Marquez replied: “Congrates,” and Oti Mabuse commented: “Congratulations jojobear.” Carloa Gu also shared: “OMG!!! Congratulations!!!”
Fellow Strictly legend Ian Waite posted: “Wow! Massive congratulations,” while choreographer and former show judge Arlene Phillips gushed: “Absolutely perfect solution for boredom. Congratulations.”
Actress Sarah Hadland shared: “Ccongratulations,” while former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote added: “Congratulations Jo!!!”
