EXCLUSIVE Ronnie O’Sullivan has opened up on the plan ‘to shake up snooker’ that could produce next ‘young superstar’ thanks to Pluto TV’s dedicated channel
Ronnie O’Sullivan has opened up about the new channel
Ronnie O’Sullivan has admitted Pluto’s plan to shake-up snooker could unearth the next superstar.
O’Sullivan was supporting the launch of Pluto Snooker 900 – the world’s first 24/7 dedicated snooker channel – when he told Daily Star Sport he thinks it could find snooker’s next star.
“I think it’s brilliant, you know, just to have amateurs being able to play on TV, juniors being able to play on TV, disabled players having their opportunities to play on TV,” the Rocket said.
“You know, it doesn’t happen for snooker players, really. I think once in my whole career as a junior and an amateur, I had one opportunity to play on TV, and I just remember how excited I was with that opportunity…
“Everyone sees the professionals on TV, and they dream about being a professional, but they can actually get the chance to play on TV without, you know, obviously being a professional there. So I think it’s really exciting!”

O’Sullivan added he thinks “every sport needs its own channel” and he hopes it will “bring in a new audience”.
Speaking during the launch of the channel, he added: “Young players don’t always get the chance to play under the lights or in front of the cameras, and that’s why Snooker 900 is so important.
“This channel gives them a proper stage, whether it’s women, juniors or disabled players, and puts real money back into the amateur game. For me, it’s about giving back and helping to inspire the next generation while showing fans a faster, more exciting way to enjoy the sport.”
