At least 1 injured in reported explosion at Dallas apartment building as crews battle massive fire
DALLAS – An explosion and fire were reported on Thursday at an apartment building in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas.
What we know:
The incident was reported around 1:30 p.m. near the corner of East 9th Street and North Patton Avenue.
According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, several victims have been reported. At least one person has been taken to a hospital for treatment.
A large plume of black smoke can be seen rising over the scene. DFR called it a three-alarm response with about 100 firefighters.
What they’re saying:
Neighbors said they heard a loud boom and they felt their own apartments shake.
What we don’t know:
People in the area reported hearing an explosion, but the exact cause of the fire is still unknown.
It’s not yet clear how many people were in the building at the time.
