Jeremie Frimpong reveals deep-rooted Celtic connection that lives on at Liverpool

Jeremie Frimpong has revealed the Celtic keepsake that he’ll carry for the rest of his career.
The Dutch international has enjoyed a meteoric rise to stardom after making the breakthrough at Parkhead in 2019.
Plucked from Man City’s youth team by Neil Lennon, Frimpong quickly became a revelation at Celtic Park – helping the club to a Treble.
The pint-sized defender was a hugely popular figure on and off the park before his stellar displays landed him an £11million switch to Bayer Leverkusen in January 2021.
There, Frimpong played a starring role as Xabi Alonso’s history-makers were crowned champions of Germany for the first time after an astonishing invincible Bundesliga campaign.
Frimpong’s stock has continued to soar and the 24-year-old secured a dream move to Liverpool during the summer – linking up with fellow countryman and ex-Celt Virgil van Dijk.
Just like his time at Celtic and Leverkusen, Frimpong has decided to stick with his number 30 jersey – a curious choice.
And in a wide-ranging episode of the AXA Player Portraits podcast, the Netherlands star admitted it all stems back from his time in Glasgow.
He explained: “30! Obviously, my first professional football number was 30 at Celtic, so I just kept it.
“At Leverkusen I was 30, and obviously coming to Liverpool, I’m known as 30 and it was free, so I was like…”
