“A Lot Different”: Brooke Henderson Shares Honest Feelings About Life After Sister Left Her Bag

For over a decade, Brooke Henderson and her older sister, Brittany, were a familiar sight at LPGA events. However, since February, Henderson has started a new chapter without her caddie sister.
From being junior golfers in Eastern Ontario to becoming one of the most formidable duos on the tour, the Henderson sisters had come a long way.
Since her sister took a break from caddie duties, Brooke has had a lot to adjust.
“Yeah, it’s a lot different. It’s really been a big adjustment all year, but I’m really grateful to have my cousin on my bag. He’s caddied for both my sister and I through the years.” Brooke said in a press conference ahead of the ShopRite LPGA Classic.

The season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions was the last tournament the sisters played together before Brittany went on her maternity leave.
Following Brittany’s leave, Brooke hired veteran caddie John Killeen, who had earlier caddied for Cristie Kerr and Juli Inkster, among others.
Now she’s set to be caddied by her cousin, with whom she started working two weeks ago.
“You know, I still talk to Brit all the time. Texted her this morning a bunch of times, so I still keep in touch as much as I can. I think I’m still leaning on her quite a bit,” Brooke said. “I’m asking her a lot of questions, and we enjoy going through the tournament courses like before we play them.”
Brittany took over the bag in 2015 after Brooke’s former caddie Brian ‘Bunk’ Lee passed away. The two have been together for ten seasons and have secured 13 LPGA titles.
Brittany’s story is filled with sacrifices. The elder sister was a tour player herself and a winner of the Sunshine Coast Series before she put an end to her career. Instead, she decided to assist Brooke in her journey to becoming Canada’s most successful pro golfer.
The two-time major winner will eagerly wait for her caddie sister to return, but for now, she is excited to be working with her cousin.
Brooke enjoyed a lot of success alongside Brittany. However, she is now adjusting to the course without her caddie sister.
How Has Brooke Adjusted On The LPGA Tour Since Brittany Left?
At their last event together, at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, Brooke was in strong contention and ended up finishing third.
Since then, the two-time major winner has struggled to perform without her sister by her side. The Canadian has failed to register a top-20 finish on the tour.
The No.26 on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings put forth her best performance, since her sister’s leave, at the Aramco Championship, finishing tied for 23rd.
At this month’s Mizuho Americas Open, the 28-year-old failed to make the cut, as she registered rounds of 74 and 75. A similar scenario played out at the JM Eagle LA Championship last month.
The 14-time LPGA winner will look to get back to her rhythm. With her cousin by her side now, she hopes to recreate the chemistry she had with her elder sister, Brittany.
