VAUXHALL OPENS ORDERS FOR NEW ASTRA AND INTRODUCES PETROL AUTOMATIC VERSION

  • Astra opens for orders with comprehensive powertrain range, now including 1.2-litre petrol automatic for greater customer choice, with a starting price of £27,495 OTR
  • Astra Electric qualifies for £1,500 Electric Car Grant, with prices starting from £28,495 OTR
  • Astra Electric £1,500 cheaper than equivalent hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions
  • Astra Electric features larger 58.3kWh battery with a range of up to 281 miles (WLTP preliminary) – a 22-mile increase from the previous model
  • Price Parity: Hatch and Sports Tourer models available at the same price. No premium for the estate model – a unique offer in the marketplace

Vauxhall has opened orders for the New Astra and Astra Sports Tourer, as well as introducing a new petrol automatic version. Uniquely in the industry, the Sports Tourer is priced the same as the hatch, with no added premium, while the Astra Electric now qualifies for the £1,500 Electric Car Grant (ECG).

The New Astra and Astra Sports Tourer feature sharper and more distinctive styling, taking inspiration from the Vauxhall Experimental concept, complete with a comprehensive line-up of efficient powertrains. This includes a plug-in hybrid and 48V hybrid version, as well as an updated fully electric version with a new 58.3kWh (gross) battery, enhancing driving range by 22 miles to 281 miles (WLTP) on a single charge.

Vauxhall has also added a 1.2-litre petrol powertrain to the line-up, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The petrol automatic offers greater choice, along with providing a lower and even more accessible entry point to the range, with prices starting from £27,495 OTR (On-The-Road).

The petrol version uses a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine to deliver 130PS and 230Nm of torque. This enables acceleration from 0–62mph in 9.7 seconds and a top speed of 130mph, while achieving fuel economy of up to 48.7mpg (WLTP Combined High).

New Vauxhall Astra and Astra Sports Tourer introduce accessible pricing for its electrified powertrains, with customers able to choose from either hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or fully electric. With the ECG applied, the Astra Electric is now available for £1,500 less than the equivalent hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, positioning Astra extremely competitively within its segment. This continues Vauxhall’s pioneering pricing strategy, first seen on the Frontera Electric, which is available for over £2,000 less than the Frontera Hybrid.

Specification

Across all New Astra hatchback and Sports Tourer models and powertrains, customers are offered three trim levels, all with generous specification as standard.

Griffin: Priced from £27,495 OTR. This entry-level trim offers high specification as standard. It features the illuminated Vizor and signature compass lighting, tinted rear windows, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Sports Tourer models also feature roof rails. A comfortable cabin is created thanks to the ergonomic Intelli-Seat feature, while both the driver and front passenger seats are heated, as is the vegan leather steering wheel. Convenience comes from a 10-inch Pure Panel infotainment display centrally integrated into the dashboard, with wireless Apple CarPlay® & Android Auto® in addition to satellite navigation, adaptive cruise control, and an electro-chromatic frameless rear-view mirror.

GS: Available from £28,995 OTR. Sporty GS models build upon Griffin specification with 18-inch black alloy wheels and a sportier bumper. Astra GS features fabric sports seats with an AGR-certified driver’s seat. The Pure Panel ‘Pro’ infotainment system incorporates the 10-inch touchscreen and 10-inch digital instrument cluster in a seamless edge-to-edge glass display, as well as displaying the 180º parking camera system. Further driver comforts are delivered with keyless entry and start, electric and heated door mirrors, and dual-zone climate control.

Ultimate: For £31,495 OTR. Ultimate is the range-topping trim for Astra and Astra Sports Tourer, adding greater connectivity, technology, and driver amenities. New for Astra, Ultimate is equipped with Intelli-Lux HD headlights as standard, as well as ergonomic ReNewKnit™ seats with heating and massage function for the driver and front passenger. On Ultimate trim, the front passenger seat is also AGR-certified. Drivers benefit from Intelli-HUD, a head-up display relaying traffic and navigation information, while connectivity is enhanced thanks to a wireless smartphone charger. Further safety features include Lane Positioning Assist, Blind Spot Alert, Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Astra Sports Tourer models also receive a power tailgate.

ABOUT VAUXHALL MOTORS

Vauxhall Motors started making cars in the UK in 1903. Today, as the oldest and most familiar of Britain’s automotive manufacturers, its philosophy is to build vehicles that are relevant to all and offer design, high levels of equipment and technology, and electrification at an attainable level. Vauxhall is one of few automotive brands to produce electric vehicles in Britain at its manufacturing plant in Ellesmere Port – the UK’s first electric-only manufacturing plant where the Combo Electric van is made.  Vauxhall’s Electric Streets of Britain campaign raises the profile of the need for more on-street electric vehicle charging so that everyone can benefit from the switch to electric.  Find out more at www.electricstreets.co.uk

Vauxhall is proud to be the official automotive partner of Team GB. The partnership sees Britain’s most loved sports team and one of Britain’s most recognisable automotive brands joining forces, with Vauxhall supporting athletes as they prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Vauxhall is part of Stellantis NV, a global leader created for the new era of sustainable mobility as a result of the merger between Groupe PSA and FCA Group in January 2021. Vauxhall is a leader in electrification – as of 2021, it was one of the first manufacturers to offer fully electric versions of all its vans. Since the end of 2024, Vauxhall has offered a fully electric version of every model in its car and van line-up. Info: www.vauxhall.co.uk
