Led once again by the strength of its pitching staff and an offensive explosion in the eighth inning, the No. 11 Oregon baseball team took down Yale in its NCAA regional opener to advance to play Washington State in the second round at PK Park May 30.
The Ducks (41-16, 20-10 Big Ten) are now just two wins away from their first super regional berth since 2024 and with a win against the Eugene Regional No. 3 seed Cougars (31-26, 15-9 Mountain West), would advance to the regional final.
WSU took down Eugene Regional No. 2 seed Oregon State in the first game Friday 3-2 to advance to the winner’s bracket.

Oregon’s star sophomore has a whopping 10 strikeouts through four innings and 13 at-bats. It’s still scoreless heading to the fifth.
Oregon has not gotten on base through four innings, with Luke Meyers at just 42 pitches and dealing in a scoreless tie.
Will Sanford allowed his first baserunner, who eventually stole second, but the Oregon righty escaped the inning unscathed. The sophomore has seven strikeouts through three innings as we’re still tied 0-0 heading to the fourth.

Oregon sophomore Will Sanford worked an easy first inning against the Cougs, striking out the side to send the game into the second inning still scoreless.
Washington State starter Luke Meyers needed just seven pitches to get through the first inning, inducing two flyouts to left field before striking out Drew Smith to end the inning.
Oregon leadoff batter Ryan Cooney has flied out to left field and we are underway in Eugene. The winner of Oregon and Washington State will play in the regional final tomorrow.

Oregon State’s bats came alive and its pitching buckled down as the Beavers staved off elimination Saturday with a 9-2 rout of Yale during the NCAA Eugene Regional at PK Park.
Oregon State’s offense, which was held to two runs and six hits a day earlier in a loss to Washington State, was in fine form against the Bulldogs.
The Beavers scored three runs in the first two innings, added six more in the eighth and had 15 hits with four doubles.
Left fielder Josh Proctor went 3 for 4 with two doubles and a run for Oregon State; first baseman Ethan Porter was 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs; shortstop Tyler Inge was 2 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and a run; and third baseman Paul Vazquez was 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
The Beavers will play the loser of Oregon’s game against Washington State at 1 p.m. Sunday, with the winner of that game advancing to play the winner of Saturday’s UO-WSU game at 6 p.m.
