Olivia Rodrigo’s May 2 debut had the pop star and actress pulling double duty, while Matt Damon’s May 9 episode featured a revival of one of Tina Fey’s favorite political impressions and his viral “Auctioneers” sketch with Sarah Sherman.
And Will Ferrell’s triumphant return to Studio 8H was a monster show in which drummer Chad Smith stepped in to double as Ferrell for his monologue, Molly Shannon made a superstar cameo, and Paul McCartney even popped up in a sketch before playing two additional classic songs after SNL signed off for the night (watch those performances here).

The show is currently in the early stages of its annual summer hiatus as the cast and crew take a much-needed break before returning to Studio 8H to prepare for Season 52 this fall.

Who is Host and Musical Guest for the May 30 SNL episode?
Tonight’s show is a re-air of the January 24, 2026 episode that featured Teyana Taylor as Host, with Geese as the Musical Guest.
The Grammy-nominated singer shined in her hosting debut, which included singing gate-agent sketch “Gate Agents” alongside Kenan Thompson, a fake commercial for One Battle After Another action figures, and poking fun at NFL on-field reporting in “NFL on ESPN,” to name a few standouts.

But Taylor wasn’t alone in stepping into Studio 8H for the first time. Brooklyn garage rockers Geese also made the most of their SNL debut, performing “Au Pays du Cocaine” and “Trinidad” to a captivated live audience.

When does the new season of SNL start?
With summer hiatus in full swing, fans have to make it a few months before experiencing new episodes of SNL. As always, Season 52 isn’t slated to kick off until fall 2026.
