Teasley, who had a former career in marketing, got his start in the NFL after writing letters to each team looking for an opportunity to get back into football. The only team to offer him an interview? The Seahawks. John Schneider offered Teasley an internship opportunity which Teasley turned into a successful 13-year career in Seattle.
Teasley will be a big loss for the Seahawks. He was one of the few people in that building to have been a part of both Super Bowl victories the Seahawks have had. Teasley now heads to Minnesota where he takes over for Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. Although it cannot be confirmed, the general consensus seems to be that Adofo-Mensah lost his job in part after deciding not to re-sign quarterback Sam Darnold. The timing of his firing (one week before Sam Darnold won Super Bowl 60 with Seattle) does not help this theory.
Teasley will be the second former Seahawks executive to currently serve as a general manager, joining Scott Fitterer, who left Seattle to become the Carolina Panthers general manager in 2021. Since Fitterer became the Panthers general manager, he has made a handful of moves bringing in former Seahawks. Some of the many former Seahawks players that Fitterer has brought in include Damien Lewis, Stone Forsythe, David Moore, Michael Jackson, and Jamie Sheriff. However, even the hiring of head coach, Dave Canales, who has a long history in Seattle, is also notable. It will be fascinating to see if there is a similar Seahawks pipeline to Minnesota now that Teasley is leaving for the Vikings.
