Heartfelt tributes have being paid to a Glasgow mother who died after suffering a sudden heart attack just 24 hours after arriving in the Canary Islands.
Mandi Murray died peacefully in Lanzarote on Thursday (May 28). Shocked friends, family and colleagues have taken to social media to remember a woman described as having ‘the most beautiful soul in the world’.
The 46-year-old was a well-known face in her community. She worked as a door steward at the popular floating music venue, The Ferry, and was a devoted supporter of both Celtic FC and the Scotland national football team.

Following the news of her passing, her children shared “wonderful memories” of their devoted mother on Facebook. Her son, Steven, described Mandi as both his “biggest critic” and one of his “best friends”.
“She was a family woman through and through and would have gone to the ends of the earth for the people she loved,” he said. “She was a friend to many and was known for being incredibly outspoken.
“Some of my favourite memories are the nights we spent sitting chatting, laughing and putting the world to rights until three in the morning,” Steven added. Tonight, I’ll be raising a vodka to her memory. You’ll be missed every day, but you’ll never be forgotten.”
Her daughter, McKenzi, shared a photograph of her mother surrounded by loved ones, which quickly became a hub for grieving friends to offer condolences.

Family friend Kayden Stevenson commented: “The most beautiful soul in the world. She was the best ever.”
Another friend, Ann Kelly, added: “Fly high with the angels, Mandi.”
In the wake of the sudden loss, another of Mandi’s daughters, Courtney, launched a GoFundMe campaign to provide financial support for their father Derek during this difficult period.
“My mum flew out to Lanzarote a couple of days ago for what was meant to be a holiday and a break for her,” Courtney wrote on the fundraising page. “But, unfortunately she had a heart attack while she was out there and she passed away peacefully.”
She added: “We are looking for any donations to help with any financial struggles and support for my dad.”
The appeal has seen an immediate wave of community support, raising more than £1,780 within just a few hours of going live. You can donate here.
