Liberty University faces $1.75M lawsuit from Trey Falwell

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — Jerry “Trey” Falwell III is suing Liberty University for $1.75 million dollars.
Falwell claims Liberty was free to fire him after the 2020 forced resignation of his father, Jerry Falwell Jr.
According to court documents, he says the school was required to keep paying his salary and benefits through 2030, per the terms of his employment contract.

Falwell claims he was fired without cause, after a Politico article implied that Jerry Jr. was still ‘effectively running things’ at the university. Court documents allege that drew media attention to Falwell’s own continued employment.
At the time of his firing, Falwell was making $220,000 a year.
However, he says Liberty University hasn’t paid him what they owe, so he’s taking them to court.
