Emmerdale has confirmed Steph Miligan’s exit story from the ITV soap, following the birth of star Georgia Jay’s first baby.

Georgia’s first scenes as Steph aired in November 2024. The character is the daughter of Ruby and Caleb Miligan (Beth Cordingly and William Ash).

Steph was part of a hugely powerful storyline that saw her discover she was conceived as a result of Ruby being raped by her father Anthony Fox.

The character struggled deeply in the aftermath of this. She couldn’t look in the mirror without being reminded of Anthony, and even went as far as booking a cosmetic surgery appointment to try and change the way she looks.

Steph departed the village in August 2025 after learning that love interest Ross Barton (Michael Parr) had slept with Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker). Steph was hurt that Ross had broken their trust, and left for Italy to get away from her troubles.

In reality, Steph’s exit story happened to coincide with Georgia’s maternity leave. The star gave birth to baby Nora in June of the same year.

While her departure was initially believed to be temporary, it’s since become a permanent one, as Georgia has quit the show to focus on motherhood.

In upcoming episodes, Steph’s exit story begins as Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) gets to work helping Caleb drum up some new business.

Caleb then receives a call from someone he believes is Steph, who is asking for money. He hands Billy his bank account password and tells him to secretly transfer £5k for a deposit on a London flat.

Meanwhile, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Ruby chat about their children. Ruby mentions that Steph is currently in Thailand with her new boyfriend – so how can she also be in London asking her dad for money at the same time?

It turns out that the person behind the call to Caleb is Jai Sharma’s (Chris Bisson) son Archie (Kai Assi). In Farrers, he sits listening to an AI copy of Steph’s voice. A few moments later, the £5k that Caleb sent lands straight into his account.
