‘The Odyssey’ Advance Ticket Wait Times Drop From An Hour To 8 Minutes

Tickets for Universal’s $250M Christopher Nolan feature take of Homer’s Odyssey went on sale today, but only for PLF (Premium Large Format) showtimes. Deadline has confirmed that the wait on AMC sites was long as an hour and has now dwindled to around eight minutes, per sources. We are checking with other circuits to see if they are experiencing a similar wait time.

Back in the old days in 2015, when Star Wars: The Force Awakens first went on sale, AMC and other ticketing sites would experience a crash. That is not longer the case. Nowadays, what happens in times of extreme demand is that an online queue is formed. It’s that type of safeguard which prevents the ticketing site from crashing.

Last summer, in an arguable first for the industry, tickets went on sale for R-rated The Odyssey in 70 mm. Those quickly sold out for what was the pic’s opening weekend. The Odyssey opens on July 17, and Nolan shot the film in IMAX.

The Odyssey stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson and many more. The film marks the first project since Nolan’s multi-Oscar winner Oppenheimer (2023) starring Best Actor winner Cillian Murphy. The Odyssey is also produced by Emma Thomas.

We understand that No. 2 circuit Regal is not experiencing any advance ticket sale lags. Tickets for Supergirl, which arrives in theaters June 26, also went on sale today.
