Bruins Should Target Two-Time All-Star Defenseman This Summer

The Boston Bruins should be looking to bring in at least one impactful right-shot defenseman this summer. The right side of their blueline is simply not good enough, and it will only get weaker if Andrew Peeke ends up signing elsewhere this off-season.
There are a handful of solid right-shot defenseman who can hit the market on July 1. Among them is Anaheim Ducks defenseman John Carlson, and the Bruins should consider pursuing him if he ends up testing free agency.

While Carlson is 36 years old, he is still plenty capable of making an impact in a top-four role. With this, he would provide the Bruins with a significant upgrade for their second pairing is successfully signed.
Carlson is coming off another season, as he recorded 14 goals, 46 assists, and 60 points in 71 games split between the Washington Capitals and Ducks. With numbers like these, he would give the Bruins a much-needed high-impact offensive defenseman if signed. He would also be a clear option for their power play if brought in.
On a short-term deal, a veteran defenseman like Carlson could make a lot of sense for the Bruins as they look to become contenders again. It will be interesting to see if they target him from here.
