New Poll Reveals What Americans Really Think Of Trump’s Birthday UFC Event

As President Donald Trump continues to focus the bulk of his attention on his ballroom and the National Mall’s reflecting pool, a recent poll finds that a growing number of Americans are voicing their frustration with his upcoming UFC event at the White House, which coincides with his 80th birthday on June 14.

A YouGov poll found that a majority of Americans aren’t fans of “UFC Freedom 250,” set to take place on the South Lawn of the White House, with 40% of respondents saying they “strongly disapprove” of the event and an additional 11% saying they “somewhat disapprove.”

While the disapproval largely came from Democratic voters, 43% of independent voters also said they “strongly disapprove” of the event, with another 12% saying they “somewhat disapprove.”

A majority of Republican respondents said they either “somewhat approved” or “strongly approved.”

Trump announced the event last summer and has been talking it up ever since. The construction of the support structure for the fights began late last month.

Trump has also suggested that once the event concludes, the structure may become a permanent fixture at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., comparing it to France’s Eiffel Tower.

“We’re building something in front of the White House that’s quite attractive to a lot of people,” Trump said earlier this week. “It’s gonna have the big UFC fight on June 14th, and I’m looking at it and maybe we’ll never, ever take it down.”
