The Uruguayan played second fiddle to Tierney at left-back but did still get plenty of opportunity to play and impressed fans with his displays – including in the final day title deciding win over Hearts.
Sutton feels the 28-year-old is a better technical footballer than Tierney but doubts whether he has the legs to justify signing him permanently from Boca Juniors.
He told the Warm-Up: “He’s a decent footballer, but I’m not so sure he has the legs.
“He’s probably a better footballer than Kieran Tierney. When he goes into that inverted role, he has better awareness of what’s around, but he’s not as good of a 1v1 defender as Tierney.”
