Gears of War: E-Day kicked off the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 with a first look at gameplay, a release date of October 6, 2026, and confirmation that it will be an Xbox console exclusive.
Our first look at The Coalition’s Gears prequel game follows an armorless (and more mobile) Marcus Fenix as he shoots through the streets of a city on Sera as Emergeance Day kicks off. Regular civilians can be seen being torn apart as the Locust horde makes its grand, gory debut. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma then followed the presentation to confirm that this next game will not come to PS5.
While it’s nice to see Gears of War: E-Day give players that October release date, PlayStation fans may be torn to hear that it will only launch for Xbox when it comes to its console presence. You can see that first gameplay trailer below.
Exact platforms have not been revealed, but Gears of War: E-Day is expected to come to PC and Xbox Series X | S. We at least know that it won’t be coming to PS5, at least not for a while.
