Poston edges Gerard in Memorial Tournament playoff

J.T. Poston has won the 2026 Memorial Tournament, defeating Ryan Gerard in a playoff at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Central Ohio late Sunday.
Poston, who held a four-shot lead after the third round, sank a three-and-a-half foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to capture the Tour’s seventh signature event of the year.
He nets $4 million with the victory and moves up to 32nd in the FedExCup standings.
“Just hard to believe, honestly. I haven’t played my best but I felt like it was trending and just to do it this way, birdie on 18. Can’t wait to shake Mr. Nicklaus’s hand,” the 33-year-old Poston told CBS Sports on the 18th green.
It marks Poston’s fourth win on Tour, his first since the 2024 Shriners Children’s Open. He had yet to finish inside the top 20 in any tournament this year before this week.
“A lot of people believing in me when I may not have myself, starting with this one,” Poston said, with a gesture towards his wife, when asked what it took to get to the winner’s circle
This is a developing story.
