Guardians vs. New York Yankees series preview, pitching matchups

ARLINGTON — This is a preview of the three-game series between the Guardians and Yankees that start Monday night.

Where: Progressive Field from Monday through Wednesday.

TV/radio: Guardians.TV will televise the series. Fox Sports 1 will do Monday and TBS will do Tuesday. WTAM/1100, WMMS 100.7 FM and the Guardians Radio Network will broadcast the series.

Probable starting pitchers and start times: RHP Gavin Williams (9-3, 3.20) vs. RHP Will Warren (7-1, 3.22) Monday at 6:40 p.m.; RHP Slade Cecconi (3-5, 4.92) vs. RHP Gerrit Cole (1-1, 2.00) Tuesday at 6:40 p.m. and LHP Parker Messick (6-2, 2.40) vs. LHP Carlos Rodón (1-2, 2.88) Wednesday at 1:10 p.m.

Series: Guardians lead, 2-1, this season. Yankees lead, 1,127-886, overall.

Yankees update (38-26): After beating Boston on Sunday, they have won seven of their last 11 games. They were rained out Saturday. They recently put Aaron Judge and catcher Austin Wells on the injured list. Paul Goldschmidt went 5 for 12 with four RBI last week against the Guardians.

Guardians update (37-30): They finished this six-game trip at 3-3 after getting hammered by Texas, 10-0, Sunday. They opened the trip by going 2-1 against the Yankees. Williams beat Cole in the second game of the series and Jose Ramirez went 7 for 13 at Yankee Stadium. Two of the three games were decided by one run.

Injuries:

Yankees: RF Judge (right rib), C Wells (cervical headaches), LF Jasson Dominguez (left shoulder), DH Giancarlo Stanton (right calf), RHP Angel Chivilli (right shoulder), LHP Max Fried (left elbow), RHP Clarke Schmidt (right elbow) and RHP Luis gil (right shoulder) are on the injured list.

Guardians: LHP Erik Sabrowski (left elbow) and SS Gabriel Arias (left hamstring) are on the injured list.

Next: The Guardians are off Thursday and Detroit visits for a three-game series starting Friday night.
