Man dies, woman injured in San Jose Kaiser shooting

SAN JOSE, Calif. – A man died, and a woman was critically injured in a shooting Monday morning outside a Kaiser Permanente medical facility in San Jose, authorities said.
The shooting was reported shortly after 10 a.m. in the 5700 block of Cottle Road, in an outdoor area of the Kaiser medical complex, according to police.
Both victims were taken to hospitals. The man later died from his injuries, while the woman remained in critical but stable condition, police said.

At an afternoon news conference, police said the shooting appears to have been an isolated incident. Investigators believe the suspect was the man who later died.
Police did not say whether his injuries were self-inflicted.

Aerial footage from SkyFOX showed a heavy police presence outside the medical complex and in nearby solar-covered parking lots. Officers were also seen escorting people out of the building.
An ophthalmology patient who was walking nearby told KTVU she was “shocked” by the shooting.
