A.J. Brown’s Epic Farewell Message on Eagles’ Wall Revealed in New NFL Rumors After Patriots Trade

A.J. Brown made sure the Philadelphia Eagles remembered him as he left their facilities following his trade to the New England Patriots.
Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, as Brown was saying farewell to his now-former teammates and coaches, Brown signed a picture of himself that the Eagles put up for all of their Pro Bowl players with the message: “The best to ever play here. Always open.”
The “always open” portion is a reference to Brown’s social media handles in which he goes by 1k_alwaysopen.
As for the bit about being the best receiver to ever play for the Eagles, there is plenty of competition for that crown. His case is hurt primarily by only being with Philadelphia for four seasons.
Within those four seasons, Brown absolutely made a profound impact on the offense. He surpassed the 1,000-yard mark and caught at least seven touchdowns every year from 2022 to ’25.
On a per-game basis, Brown might be the best receiver in Eagles history. He is their all-time leader in receiving yards per game (81.2) with a minimum of 50 games played.
Brown is one of 10 wideouts in Eagles history with at least 5,000 yards. He is the only player in that group who played fewer than 80 games for the team.
Coming off a tumultuous 2025 season in which there was a lot of attention paid to the dynamic between Brown and Jalen Hurts, the Eagles traded the veteran wideout to the Patriots on June 1 for two draft picks.
The Eagles added a lot of players to their receiver corps, including drafting Makai Lemon, trading for Dontayvion Wicks and signing Hollywood Brown in free agency, to hopefully replace Brown’s production.
Despite the abrupt ending to Brown’s tenure in Philadelphia, the two sides benefited greatly from their partnership. The Eagles made the Super Bowl twice in four seasons, winning the Lombardi Trophy with a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59.
