Potential data center developer pulls out of land deal in Broken Arrow

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — A company looking to put in a data center near State Highway 51 and the Creek Turnpike has pulled out of the proposed land deal.

The landowner notified the City of Broken Arrow that the letter of intent agreement to sell the property expired. According to the city, no reason was provided as to why the agreement was not renewed.

The company first showed interest in buying the property in April 2026 for a potential data center. City officials said no pre-development meeting was ever requested or held despite the company’s interest.

“While this project idea seems to have faded, I do not expect that this will be the last company to consider developing a data center in Broken Arrow. However, our citizens now understand our process to keep them informed when the next company, or its representation, reaches out to us,” said City Manager Michael Spurgeon.

Officials said the city began the process of researching and speaking with the community about the concerns residents have about the impacts of data centers soon after the company expressed interest in buying the land.

“I’m thankful for the citizens who contacted us directly with their concerns. As such, our due diligence continues with the goal to learn as much as we can through a comprehensive review of data centers, so we are prepared should another request be made to meet with us,” said Spurgeon.

City officials said it is likely that a formal proposal for a data center will be submitted in the future, but no applications for data center development have been submitted officially at this time.
