Taylor Swift had a brief exchange with a fan before he was shoved away by security while attending the NBA finals this week.

The pop star was seen rocking a custom “Stevie Knicks” T-shirt at the New York Knicks VS San Antonio Spurs game at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, June 10. Footage shared on social media shows Taylor, 36, entering the arena accompanied by sisters Alana and Este Haim, of the pop duo HAIM, as security made way for them.

In the clip, many people can be seen taking photos of the singer. However, one man was quickly blocked by security after attempting to take a selfie with Taylor.

Now, lip reader Nicola Hickling has exclusively revealed to The Mirror US what she believes Taylor said just before the fan was removed from the pitch. First, the singer appeared to say, “Oh my god, I am so happy.” She added, “We had to call though.”

Then, Nicola told us that as the fan lifted his phone in an attempt to take a photo with Taylor, she told him, “Hey, are you doing a selfie…Hi.” Security then pushed the man away, and it’s unclear whether he managed to snap a photo with the superstar.

The T-shirt Taylor was wearing last night had a special meaning, as legendary rock star Stevie Nicks, 78, is a friend and mentor of the pop star. Stevie’s last name is pronounced the same as the New York team’s, making for the perfect pun, which Taylor used on her shirt.

Swifites raved over her outfit choice on X. “Taylor Swift in a STEVIE KNICKS shirt….that is the most Taylor thing ever,” one X user wrote.

Following speculation that the Grammy-winner would be a guest for Game 4 at Madison Square Garden, she confirmed the suspicions when she popped up to watch the latest NBA Finals game with her entourage. Taylor’s group included sisters Alana and Este.

HAIM had on similar shirts as Taylor, except Este’s shirt read “Knickole Kidman,” which is a pun of actress Nicole Kidman’s name, made to show allegiance to the Knicks. Meanwhile, Alana’s shirt read “Knickelback,” a NBA-forward pun of the rock band’s name Nickelback.

Although it was reported that Taylor made plans to attend the game in New York City with friends since she’s a fan of the Knicks, it was said that her fiancé, Travis Kelce, 36, wasn’t there due to minicamp commitments for the Kansas City Chiefs.

It comes as recent reports have claimed that Taylor and Travis’ upcoming wedding ceremony, with over 1,000 of their closest friends, could take place at Madison Square Garden in NYC. Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Zoë Kravitz, Ed Sheeran, the Haim sisters, Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss are among the famous faces who have reportedly received invites to the wedding. Meanwhile, Suki Waterhouse and Benson Boone have actually confirmed to publications that they will be attending the ceremony.
