Rama Duwaji’s Knicks Parade Dress Is Made of Bootleg Merch

The Knicks NBA championship celebration wasn’t lacking for amazing outfits. However, once the parade made its way to City Hall, not even Karl-Anthony Towns’s swaggy leather jacket could compete with Rama Duwaji. The city’s First Lady proved, once again, that she is one of the most stylish people in the five boroughs.

Duwaji wore a dress made of bootleg Finals merch, with three different T-shirts stitched together to make a truly fab one-shoulder number in Knicks colors. The look comes from the New York brand Miss Claire Sullivan. In an Instagram post last week, the label showed the dress styled with a big tutu. Duwaji instead opted for a plain black skirt and orange pom-pom earrings — it still looks awesome.

Sullivan told Vogue that the shirts were sourced by her friends from actual street vendors in Manhattan. “When I saw how many colors there were, I was inspired to get one in every color and turn them into a dress.”

“I can’t express how much of an honor it is to dress the First Lady of New York City,” the designer told the magazine. “I respect Rama so much. She’s an incredible artist with so much grace and dignity. I could not be more proud of our city and everyone representing it right now.”

This is, officially, the summer of sports in New York City — as Duwaji posted last week, she’s “sportsmaxxing” right now. We’re all looking forward to seeing what she can do with bootleg soccer merch in the coming weeks.
